The Tax Foundation -- a somewhat right-leaning foundation -- ranked all 50 states, and ranked Washington no. 9 for business taxes.
Not no. 9 in business climate, though Forbes thinks pretty highly of us in that regard. Not business startups, in which we're also consistently ranked among the top. We're talking about business taxes.
Our fine state beat the tar out of Texas (No. 11) and every other southern state except Florida (No. 5). We beat South Carolina (No. 26), Idaho (No. 18), Oregon (No. 14) and California (No. 48).

Set your DVR - TVW to air two-part series on state education system
TVW is airing a two-part series on our state's public education system tonight and tomorrow at 8 p.m.
The series, Quest for Quality, asks the question of how the state should fund public education in the 21st century. It takes a close look at the basic ed bill lawmakers passed last session and explores how to pay for it.
Lots of good info and background and a series preview here. If you're interested in the state's efforts to continually improve our K-12 system, this is definitely must-see tv.
